Program Description:

This certificate is designed to prepare students for employment in the technical side of performance and entertainment. The Massachusetts area is rife with theatre and performing arts venues that require employees trained in lighting, sound, and stage design. Other potential employers include cruise ship lines with entertainment venues.  In addition, area colleges offer BA or BFA in technical theatre.

Other potential employers include cruise ship lines with entertainment venues.  In addition, area colleges do offer BA or BFA in technical theatre, i.e., Salem State and UMass, Amherst.

Graduates of the Technical Theatre Certificate program are prepared to:

• Employ well developed personal skills and an awareness of self in individual and group settings
• Apply the content of the text of the play to theatre design
• Investigate and problem solve in an individual and a collaborative team setting
• Employ the tools and technology required for theatre production and design
