Program Description:
The Breast Sonography Certificate program is designed specifically as preparation for the American Registry in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (AMRDS) Breast Ultrasound Certification Examination. The program provides training and instruction for RTR (M) radiologic technologists and RDMS sonographers in the use of high-frequency sound waves to evaluate the female breast by producing ultrasound images.
Career and Transfer Outlook:
Students find career opportunities in hospitals, doctor’s offices and clinics. The present career outlook for graduates is extremely positive and not expected to change in the near future.
Helpful Hints:
Students with no prior medical training should complete a course in medical terminology.
Note: In order for a student to be eligible to participate in an academic, community or clinical program that involves potential unsupervised contact with children, the disabled, or the elderly, the student may be required to undergo a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) check and/or a Sex Offender Registry Information (SORI) check. See Admissions for details.
