EGR 216 - Logic Design3
Course Description: This course introduces number systems and binary codes as well as Canonical and fundamental forms of Boolean functions. The course will further introduce functions expansion and their application to digital circuit design. Minimization of Boolean functions by Boolean algebra and Karnaugh maps will be shown as well as two level and multi-level digital circuits. This course will present designs and uses of: decoders, encoders, multiplexers, de-multiplexers, latches, flip-flops, registers and counters. Students will learn to analyze and synthesize synchronous and sequential circuits, and to design data paths and control circuits. The course includes laboratory component, in which students apply the design principles learned in lectures to the design of combinational circuits, and a serial arithmetic processors. Prerequisite(s): Completion of both MAT291 and PHY 172.
