PHY 171 - Physics For Engineering And Science I4
Course Description: The first in a series of two calculus-based physics courses for students planning to transfer to an engineering or physical science baccalaureate program. Emphasis is placed on understanding through problem solving. Topics include the SI system; kinematics in one, two and three dimensions; Newton’s laws of motion; friction, circular motion, conservation of energy and momentum, and oscillations. 3 hours lecture/ 3 hours laboratory
ISLOs: This course supports student development of Written and Oral Communications, Critical Thinking, and Quantitative Literacy. Prerequisite(s): Completion of, or concurrent enrollment in MAT 290. General Education Elective(s): ScienceRecommendation(s): Previous high school or college physics is strongly recommended. Note(s): This course has been approved to meet the Core Curriculum General Education Requirement.
