|
Program Description:
Students in the Associate in Science Communication Transfer degree program develop their creative, analytical, and technical skills through practical application of digital media production tools and the study of communication history, theory, and ethics. Additionally, students augment their learning while exploring other academic desciplines through the broad general education core curriculum. This program qualifies for the MassTransfer , which guarantees credit transfer to Massachusetts state universities and the University of Massachusetts. Academic advisors and transfer counselors work closely with students to plan course selections in accordance with their intended bachelor’s degree major and transfer institution.
Career and Transfer Outlook:
Most students in the Communications Concentration continue their studies toward a bachelor’s degree. Students should check the requirements of the transfer institution and meet with career and academic/transfer counselors at MCC for specific program planning. Students may pursue careers in such fields as digital media, social media, journalism, public relations, film, television, and radio production.
Helpful Hints:
Students should begin their Middlesex experience by taking the foundation-level courses (English and mathematics) along with COM 101 - Introduction to Communication Media and COM 104 - Foundations of Media Production. Internships in film production, television, radio, digital, print and social media are available through internship courses, COM 221, COM 222, and COM 223 as well as through independent study contracts.
