Early Childhood Education Leadership Certificate

Bedford Campus and Lowell Campus - Day, Evening and Weekend

Program Description:

This program is recommended for those candidates who hold a minimum of an Associate degree, MA Lead Teacher certification, and are seeking either Director certification through the MA Department of Early Education and Care (EEC), or other leadership roles within the field.

Career and Transfer Outlook:

The Early Childhood Education (ECE) Leadership Certificate meets all MA EEC education requirements for Director I and II (Levels 3 and 4) certification.

Helpful Hints:

  • Candidates will need to apply for certification directly through the MA Dept. of EEC.
  • ENG 101 and EDU 122 are prerequisites for most EDU courses.
  • Candidates may be eligible for Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) based on learning that they have gained through academically related employment, training programs, military service, or other relevant life experience. Contact the CPL Coordinator for more information.

Program Outcomes::

Graduates of the Early Childhood Education Leadership Certificate are prepared to:

* provide pedagogical and operational oversight that guides the practice of early childhood educators and programs

* ensure that implementation of EEC programs is in alignment with research-based best practices, professional standards and competencies, and licensure requirements.

Admission Information

Candidates for the certificate must:

  • Hold a minimum of an Associate Degree
  • Hold a MA Department Early Education and Care Lead Teacher (Level 2) Certification
  • Have at least six months of experience serving in the Lead Teacher role

 

Note: In order for a student to be eligible to participate in an academic, community or clinical program that involves potential unsupervised contact with children, the disabled, the elderly, or other vulnerable populations, the student may be required to undergo a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) check and/or a Sex Offender Registry Information (SORI).
