This course is designed to cover the topics in Vascular Echocardiography to prepare students for a career in this highly specialized field. Topics include: definition of sound, propagation of sound in tissue, transducer Doppler signal processing, Doppler instruments, imaging principles, imaging artifacts, arterial hemodynamics, venous hemodynamics, physical principles, tissue mechanics/ pressure transmission, spectral analysis, instrument performance and biological effects.
