Institutional Student Learning Outcomes

Middlesex Community College has identified six Institutional Student Learning Outcomes that represent our focus on student learning, and help to define the skills and abilities of an MCC graduate. Our Institutional Student Learning Outcomes fall into the following categories:

• Knowledge and Skills The MCC graduate will use discipline-associated knowledge acquired at Middlesex as a foundation for continued study and/or practical application.
• Critical Thinking The MCC graduate will interpret and analyze information in order to engage in critical thinking and problem solving.
• Communication The MCC graduate will communicate, use information and employ technology effectively.
• Global Perspectives The MCC graduate will communicate an understanding of the world from a global perspective.
• Social Responsibility The MCC graduate will demonstrate social responsibility within the college community.
• Personal and Professional Development The MCC graduate will demonstrate the capacity for on-going personal and professional development.

The college maintains an ongoing annual process of collecting, analyzing and interpreting evidence of student achievement of these Institutional Student Learning Outcomes for the purpose of continuously improving teaching and learning. Students achieve these outcomes through their coursework and co-curricular activities at the college, including the successful completion of Core Curriculum and Core Intensive Values requirements.
