PSY 166 - Brain, Mind and Behavior

3

In order to begin to unravel the mystery of why humans feel, think, and behave in the ways that we do, it is important to understand the structures and function of the brain and nervous system. In this course, we will explore a range of topics related to neuroanatomy and neurophysiology, including how the brain develops, operates, regulates, controls, or influences our moods, behavior, cognitive functions, addictions, and psychological disorders. At the end of the course, students will have an understanding of the biological bases of human behavior, allowing them to be able to identify important structures of the brain, and to describe and explain how these influence a variety of psychological functions such as how we fall in love, how someone can feel a missing limb, how memory works, why we can’t tickle ourselves, and much more.
