Program Description:
The Graphic Design Certificate program is for students who wish to acquire new skills or upgrade current graphic design experience. Students use state-of-the-art Macintosh equipment and software packages.
Career and Transfer Outlook:
Students completing this certificate are prepared for entry-level work in the design departments of companies, graphic design firms, advertising, print and multi-media design companies.
Helpful Hints:
Students who place into reading courses on the college placement test should complete that requirement without delay. Many Graphic Design Certificate graduates continue to take additional courses to complete the Graphic Design associate degree.
Program Outcomes:
Graduates of the Graphic Design Certificate program are prepared to:
- Use the creative process to plan and execute fine- and graphic-design work;
- Demonstrate knowledge of the formal and expressive aspects of art;
- Create effective visual communications that are responsive to the needs of clients and targeted audience;
- Articulate the concepts and theoretical ideas in graphic design and use those ideas to evaluate their own work and the work of others;
- Use a variety of art media and graphic-design software;
- Complete a portfolio suitable for transfer or job application.
