Program Description:

Students in the A.S. Visual Arts program will have the opportunity to explore a range of mediums, including drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, ceramics, visual design, photography, and filmmaking while developing technical skills and creative problem-solving abilities.

In addition to developing artistic skills, the program provides a broad-based education in the history and theory of visual arts, helping students understand their context and evolution over time.

Career and Transfer Outlook:

The Visual Arts Associate of Science Degree prepares students to transfer into a Bachelor of Arts degree program in Visual Arts (including studio arts, photography, design, and media), Art History, or Art Education.

A visual art degree program prepares you for various career opportunities, including working as a professional artist, art educator, art therapist, art historian, curator, gallery or museum professional, art director, or illustrator, among others.

Students interested in more intensive art or design instruction should consider one of the following degrees.

• The A.S. Studio Art degree prepares students to transfer into a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree program in art.
• The A.S. Visual Design (Transfer) degree prepares students to transfer into a bachelor’s degree program in design.
• The A.S. Visual Design (Career) degree prepares students for direct workforce entry.
