Program Description:
The Artificial Intelligence (AI) micro credential is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary for employment and growth in the AI profession. Course work includes various subject areas related to AI fundamentals, machine learning, deep learning theory, and hands-on training in multiple AI domains for the purpose of creating and implementing artificial intelligence across a broad range of applications.
Career and Transfer Outlook:
Between 2023 and 2030, AI is expected to see a growth rate of 37.3% with chatbots, image generating AI, and mobile applications progressing AI technology. AI integration in marketing, market analysis, and supply chains have brought this technology into industries such as, automotive, healthcare, retail, finance, and manufacturing. Massachusetts ranks second in the U.S. for AI jobs and recruits more AI jobs per capita in all U.S. states, except Washington. In 2022, Massachusetts had 34,603 job postings. Potential artificial intelligence positions for students with less than a bachelor’s degree include data analysts, electrical and electronic engineering technologists and technicians, information security analysts, network and systems administrators, computer network architects, computer support specialists, web developers, and logisticians.

Students who complete this Micro Credential are prepared to:
- Apply fundamental concepts of programming languages and software development to solve a diverse array of problems and recognize these concepts in different languages.
- Design, develop, evaluate, and present solutions to business and software engineering problems. Students will work together to update their skills when new programming languages, tools, and to respond to cyber security challenges.
- Analyze problems, gather appropriate data, use logic to solve, predict and analyze results for relevance, accuracy, and consistency.
- Recognize solution patterns of common problems and apply them to new challenges.
- Communicate clearly, accurately, and succinctly through written and verbal means.
