Launch at MCC Micro Credential

Description: 

The Launch at MCC micro-credential develops a student’s entrepreneurial mindset to identify and evaluate opportunities, as well as use knowledge and tools to actively launch a new venture. Appropriate for students planning to start or grow any enterprise regardless of academic discipline. Students will be prompted to take 3 specific courses - BUS 130, BUS 211 and BUS 218. These courses roll up into an Entrepreneurship or Launch Your Business Now certificate as well as a Business Administration Entrepreneurship Career degree.

Career and Transfer Outlook:

This micro-credential prepares students to investigate, start and/or grow a new venture.

Helpful Hints:

Students are encouraged to take BUS 130 in its own semester, then BUS 211 and BUS 218 at the same time. These courses roll up into an Entrepreneurship or Launch Your Business Now certificate as well as a Business Administration Entrepreneurship Career degree. Students must be eligible for ENG 109 to enroll in BUS 130

Students who complete this Micro Credential are prepared to:

  • Evaluate entrepreneurial mindset and likelihood to succeed as an entrepreneur.
  • Summarize the process entrepreneurs use to generate ideas and shape them into opportunities.
  • Design and launch an entrepreneurial opportunity, then measure, refine, and iterate.
  • Devise a marketing strategy, adapt branding and promotional material as suitable.
  • Devise a sales strategy with a focus on a customer funnel.
  • Perform basic accounting tasks, including preparing a pro forma profit and loss and managing a QuickBooks account.
  • Design operational strategies and consider challenges and opportunities that ventures face.
  • Create legal business structure and register business with federal and state tax agencies as needed.
  • Present business opportunity in a persuasive and professional business pitch.

Please note- All courses completed for your micro-credential count toward: Entrepreneurship Certificate, AS Business Entrepreneurship, AS Business Administration-Career.
