MAT 297 - Probability and Statistics for Scientists

Course Description: This is a course in probability and statistical methods for students in STEM. The course will explore foundational concepts and applications in probability, descriptive, and inferential statistics including: axioms of probability, combinatorial methods, conditional probability and independence, sampling distributions, formal probability distributions, covariance, correlation, conditional distributions. Moment generating functions and limit theorems are introduced. Course will utilize technology to focus on the applications of statistical concepts and methods within STEM. 
Prerequisite(s): Completion of MAT 291 with a C or better
Note(s): Course intended for students in STEM or students interested in data science.
