CAD 270 - Design for Manufacturing

Course Description: This course will study the major principles for designing a quality, cost-efficient product by creating designs that employ the best cost and manufacturing processes. Topics include design for manufacturing, design for assembly, process selection in manufacturing, inspection planning, concurrent engineering, product re-engineering, quality management. The focus is on engineering designs and system approaches that affect cost, quality, cycle time, and maintainability. The lab component offers students practical knowledge and skills in various manufacturing processes. Students will gain hands-on experience in manufacturing techniques, equipment operation, safety procedures, and quality control methods. 2 Hours Lecture/2 Hours Laboratory.
Prerequisite(s): Completion of or concurrent enrollment in CAD 169
