EDU 122 - Child Growth and Development

Formerly PSY 122

Course Description: This course provides a chronological overview of the theory and principles of child growth and development from conception through adolescence, with an emphasis on the period from birth through age eight, exploring the interrelationships between theory, research and practice. Development is studied in the contexts of family, gender, culture, language, socioeconomics, diversity, and society. This course is especially designed for students interested in pursuing course work or careers in education, health or human services fields.

ISLOs: This course supports students development of Written and Oral Communications, Critical Thinking, and Multicultural and Global Perspective.
Prerequisite(s): Eligible for ENG 101
General Education Elective(s): Behavioral Science
Note(s): This course has been approved to meet the Core Curriculum General Education requirement.
Students who have previously taken PSY 122 do not need EDU 122. Any student who has not taken this sequence should take EDU 122 as PSY 122 has been removed from the program.
