ENG 092 - Reading, Writing, and Reasoning

Course Description: Reading, Writing, and Reasoning (RWR) is a six -credit foundational English course that includes a one-hour weekly workshop. The course strengthens essential college literacy skills through instruction in critical reading, writing, and thinking. Students engage with college-level texts while developing strategies for active reading, comprehension, and analysis. Through scaffolded instruction, students compose academic essays, including source-based writing, to increase proficiency in organization, development, argumentation, and Standard English conventions. While credits earned in this course will not apply to MCC degree or certificate programs, this course prepares students for English Composition.
Prerequisite(s): Placement into ENG 092.
Note(s): Students who earn a B or higher will be placed into ENG 101. Students who earn a C- through B- will be placed into ENG 109 / ENG 101
