GGY 120 - World Geography
Course Description: This is a study of geography aimed at developing a knowledge of natural environments throughout the world, with emphasis on human interrelationships with these environments and how that influenced the development of human society. Areas of focus also include political, economic and cultural issues related to the physical environment.
ISLOs: This course supports student development of Critical Thinking, Multicultural and Global Perspectives, and Social Responsibility.
Prerequisite(s): Eligible for ENG 101.
General Education Elective(s): Social Science
Note(s): This course has been approved to meet the Core Curriculum General Education requirement.
Course Student Learning Outcomes:
- Describe the natural environment and physical landscape of the world’s realms and regions
- Identify and analyze political, socioeconomic and cultural characteristics of the evolution of human society from a geographical perspective.
- Evaluate the major socioeconomic, political, and cultural effects of globalization.
- Assess the impact of human activity over the physical landscape, natural environment, and climate, including ways that human society could develop more sustainably.
