Dynamic ONLINE LEARNING to meet 21st Century needs

Middlesex Community College has been delivering courses online for over 25 years.  Deans and Faculty are trained in online course design and quality standards, incorporating 21st century skills directly, intentionally and measurably into their coursework.  Ensuring that 21st century skills are included in the online course design is essential to student’s success in the workplace.

In an increasingly competitive global economy, it is not enough for students to acquire subject-level mastery alone. Skills like creativity, problem-solving, communication and analytical thinking are necessary for all levels of success, from entry-level jobs to engineering and technical fields.

MCC provides several options for you to complete your degree. You can blend traditional on campus courses with wholly online courses or take a mix in one of our new hybrid courses.  Our online course options allow you to access courses in a place most convenient to you, at a competitive cost.  The content, prerequisites, grading systems and credit for online and hybrid courses are the same as courses offered in the classroom. Students are expected to participate fully, as well as complete assignments and tests in a timely manner.

Online Courses are taught using a learning management system called Blackboard.  Students login to Blackboard to access their course schedule and materials.  Online courses are designated by a W in the catalog.

  • W = Web; Online-no class meeting times

Hybrid courses combine online with face-to-face instruction, reducing the amount of time spent on campus to complete a course.  MCC offers three types of hybrid courses;

  • H = Hybrid, Online and on-campus meeting times
  • WT = Online with synchronous class meeting times
  • WO = Online with on-campus lab work

Students considering enrolling in online or hybrid courses are advised to read the course information and requirements thoroughly to determine their suitability.

The online learning readiness survey and a listing of each semester’s online course offerings are posted at;
