SON 207 - Principles Of Gynecologic Sonography
Course Description: This course focuses on principles and techniques in gynecological ultrasound. Areas of study include but are not limited to: scanning protocols and technique, normal and pathologic anatomy of the female pelvis, and special interventional procedures as related to the female pelvis.
Prerequisite(s): Completion of SON 100, SON 101, and SON 103, all with a C or better.
Note(s): Open to Diagnostic Medical Sonography degree students only.
Course Student Learning Outcomes:
- Demonstrate transabdominal scanning techniques of the pelvis.
- Differentiate between the normal and abnormal sonographic appearances of the structures within the female pelvis.
- Formulate a provisional diagnosis of disease in correlation with the abnormal sonographic findings and pertinent clinical history.
- Describe the special radiographic and surgical procedures used for gynecology diagnosis and treatment.
