MAS 201 - Medical Assisting Externship3
Course Description: This practicum experience provides the opportunity to gain practical experience in a health care setting and increase the understanding of the role of the medical assistant in health care agencies. A weekly seminar assists in preparing students for the transition from student to professional medical assistant.
Prerequisite(s): Completion of MAS 102, MAS 103, and MAS 122, all with a C or better
Corequisite(s): MAS 121
Note(s): Open to Medical Assisting students only
Course Student Learning Outcomes:
- Apply previously learned cognive, psychomotor and affective skills in the perfomance of medical office administrative and clinical competencies.
- Demonstrate effective communication and interactive skills with patients, colleagues and other professionals.
- Provide effective patient teaching.
- Observe appropriate legal and ethical standards in the practice of medical assisting.
