Course Description: This course introduces the concepts of public health and issues in health care delivery and research. The primary focus of the course is on program planning, issues related to access to care and research.
Prerequisite(s): Completion of DHY 200 with a C or better; completion of MAT 177
Note(s): Open to Dental Hygiene degree students only
Course Student Learning Outcomes:
- Evaluate a community’s oral health needs including the quality and availability of resources and services.
- Integrate various program planning paradigms for educational, preventive, and therapeutic community oral health services in a variety of settings.
- Provide patient and community oral health care based on accepted scientific theories, research, and standards of care.
