GOV 090 - American Citizenship: Rights and Responsibilities

An interdisciplinary course designed specifically to provide students with an introduction to the rights and responsibilities of citizenship in the United States. Students will learn about citizenship while practicing English reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. Students will be exposed to the knowledge and skills they need to become citizens that participate fully in the civic life of their community and country. Service-Learning activities will be available to students who are interested. Activities will include online resources to take virtual field trips to various governmental offices and historic places.

Prerequisite(s): Placement above or successful completion of ENG 065 and ENG 050 or placement above or successful completion of ELL 055. Students placing above or who have successfully completed ENG 071 and whose CPT is above 67 are not eligible to enroll in this course.
General Education Elective(s): Social Science
Note(s): This course is recommended for students whose first language is not English.
